Typically, when it comes to taking screenshots, a keyboard shortcut is used to trigger the desired action. For Android devices (version 4.0 and above), the standard combination is to simultaneously press the volume down button and the power button. For iOS, it's a combination of the home button and the power button. Chromebooks, and ChromeOS in general, have their own keyboard shortcuts for taking a screenshot.

How to take a screenshot of the entire screen

To take a screenshot of the entire screen, press the Control (Ctrl) key together with the window switch key at the same time.

To capture the entire screen of your Chromebook, press Ctrl + Window Switch. A confirmation window will appear in the lower right corner of the screen with a preview of the image.

The window switch key looks like an outline of several windows, it is located just above the row of numbers. The location of this key may vary depending on the device. A few seconds after using the key combination, you will see a notification informing you that the screenshot was successfully taken. To limit the screenshot to a part of the screen, simply add the Shift key to the combination. The mouse pointer will turn into a crosshair where you can select the area you want to capture as a screenshot.

Getting access to your screenshots

You can access your screenshots in one of two ways. You can either tap on notifications or open the app launcher and look for an icon that says "Files". You can find your screenshots in the Downloads folder. From there, you can upload the file to Google Drive, share it via email, or do whatever you would normally do with screenshots.
